Stocks are up, first Baltic cod fishery achieves MSC certification

This week, Danish vessels will start landing MSC certified Baltic cod in Danish ports. The DFPO Denmark Eastern Baltic cod fishery was today certified as a sustainable and well-managed fishery against the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) environmental standard. The cod has been a commercially important species in the Baltic region since the 15th century and now, consumers across Europe will, for the first time, be able to buy Baltic cod bearing the distinctive blue MSC ecolabel.

A third of Danish North Sea plaice wins MSC ecolabel

The DFPO North Sea Plaice fishery was today certified sustainable against the Marine

Stewardship Council (MSC) environmental standard for sustainable and well managed

fisheries. Around 2500 metric tonnes, roughly a third of the Danish North Sea plaice quota,

will now be eligible to display the blue MSC ecolabel in the market place. Consumers can

now make a positive choice to buy Danish plaice that comes from a certified sustainable

source.

As of Monday February 7th farmed Turbot will be available on PefaPlus. This Turbot originates from two farmers: Grovisco and Seafarm.
